We’ve all been there, scrolling endlessly through your post pages, landing again and again on the intermediary ‘All Posts’ page, just trying to find that one post. Was it now on page 4 or 44? Where did I last see this article???
As your blog grows, so does your maintenance load and the ‘Dude, where’s my post?’ syndrome grows more acute. The default WordPress settings are not always very helpful in helping you out with your post search. You have the various sorting options in the Posts home, but what if you wanted to jump to your other posts while you are editing? Why do you always have to come back to the posts screen?
As it turns out, there are tools out there that can help you do just that. The following list of free Admin Post Navigation Tools gives you several navigation options depending on your navigating needs. Using one of these tools or a combination of them will allow you to add different access points to your posts and help you get there faster.
Admin Post Navigation
This is a very simple function, that, surprisingly, does not come with the default ‘Edit Post’ screen. This plugin adds a ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ navigation option in your editing window.

Admin Quick Jump
This plugin adds a dropdown list of posts, both published and drafts, in the right hand side of your editing space. All items in the list are of the same post_type as the article you are currently editing. It would be nice if the list came with a few more customization options, but if you often navigate by post_type, then this one will do it for you.

Post Navigator
Post Navigator offers yet another post navigation concept. This plugin allows you to set a default redirect action after you are done editing a post. You can choose to add a new post, to go next or previous, or a parent post. See the dropdown list above for all options. It’s a cool approach. It works well, if, for instance, you save and preview a lot. Then you don’t have to hit ‘Preview’ all the time.

Admin Menu Post List
With this plugin you can access a list of your posts straight from the main menu(see screenshot). This plugin is especially handy if you access your latest posts most often. The list displays both published posts and drafts (in italics). Although you may choose to show only published posts and/or pages. Other customization options include the number of items to display, and sorting options, such as by title, date, ascending and descending.

Admin Search Post by ID
This is handy if you know the ID of the post you are searching for. Unfortunately, the current automatic numerical ID assigned to your posts is not something you can easily remember. This searching capability would be much more useful if you could choose a more intuitive ID syntax for your posts. But that’s future music. Do you hear it, WordPress?
